Well, this is exciting. 10/10 exciting to be precise.
Writing is something that has always had a special place in my heart.
It felt like the thing that I could only (quietly) dare to dream to be good at.
I remember an English teacher at school once marking my story with a A+ and the comment, "Brilliant work, Toots!" and that ‘toots’ had a profound impact on me, whispering of hope and promise.
Could people really enjoy something I’d written? (Toots!)
A writer’s life had such allure to me; the intense inner worlds writ large on the page. As a teenager, with an intense inner world of my own, my pin-ups were James Baldwin, Virginia Woolf, Italo Calvino. I was a weird teenager.
I longed to write.
And, for the longest time, didn’t.
Lack of confidence. Zero self-belief. Not seeing myself in that identity. A host of ghosts held me back from self-expression of any kind.
And then I co-authored a book on the creative process, and the blocks that can get in the way. ('Seven Creative Gremlins' available at Amazon! 😉)
After that, I started tinkering away on LinkedIn. Sharing stories of things that mattered to me; mostly the revelation of exploring shadow work and the benefits for my coaching.
Which led to James Bridgeman reaching out and asking if I’d like to contribute to the July edition of the Association for Coaching (AC) magazine. (Reader, I said yes.)
And now…here she blows! Toots in print! Edgining me one step closer to the goal of writing the book, 'Learning the Language of Shadow'. Much more on that in the months to come.
But for now, if you fancy knowing a little more about my work with coaches, then this is as good a place to start as any.
And if you fancy exploring the magazine in its entirety, then you can do so via membership or subscription here: bit.ly/CPShare
